Kanayo O. Kanayo Challenges Catholic Church on Black Smoke Symbolism
Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo is stirring up global conversations after boldly questioning a long-held tradition of the Catholic Church the use of black smoke during a papal conclave to signal an unsuccessful vote in the election of a new pope.
In a recent video shared on his social media, Kanayo raised a critical concern about the racial implications of the symbolism.
